The Dreaded Eyebrow Pluck

Authentic Beauty Header
Your face is one of God's many masterpieces, and your hair really is the frame for God's artwork. Regardless of how much or how little color you add to your face in the morning, taking the time to frame your face with your hair will always give your look an added polish. And while a good blowout is the key to hair that will bring out the beauty in your face, a good eyebrow pluck is the key to brows that will make youEyebrowr features stand out. Eyebrows are just one of those things that people shouldn't notice on your face. Instead, your eyebrows should draw people's attention to your eyes.

So many women (and men!) neglect their eyebrows. They end up with shapeless brows that can be mistaken for bushman brows or the dreaded uni-brow. I have concluded that before Eve took a bite out of the apple she had perfectly shaped eyebrows, but after that, practically everybody on the planet ended up with unruly eyebrow hair that can naturally appear everywhere from the middle of the forehead to even growing out of the eyelids. I am one of those eyelid-eyebrow hair people. If I don't pluck and shape my eyebrows at least once a week I end up with eyebrow hair literally growing out of my eyelids and up my forehead. And while plucking eyebrow hair out of your eyelids is one of the most painful experiences on earth, I guarantee you it's worth it.

You can find hundreds of tutorials on how to shape your eyebrows to make your eyes appear wider, more narrow, bigger, smaller, or to fit your face shape, to fit your mood, to fit your outfit, to fit, whatever, but I hold to the belief that you were born with the eyebrow shape that you were meant to have. What a concept. As I'm getting ready in the morning I always say to myself that I won't alter what God gave me, but I will definitely do what I can to enhance it.

Here are a few non-complicated solutions to any eyebrow dilemma you may be having.

First, to find the natural shape of your eyebrows, start with a fairly thin eyeliner pencil. Hold it against the side of your nose straight up to where it meets your brow. Make a small mark on that spot; that's where your eyebrow should start. To find the point where your eyebrow should arch, angle the pencil against the nostril so that it crosses over the center of your eye. Wherever the pencil crosses the eyebrow, make your mark.

Now you are ready to start tweezing. Waxing is an okay alternative to tweezing, but tweezing is definitely more effective and precise. Tweezing right after a steamy shower or face wash will help to ease the pain a little bit.

But before your get tweezer happy consider the natural thickness of your hair. If you have thick hair or larger features, you'll want to keep your eyebrows balanced by keeping them full. If you have thinner hair, and your eyebrows aren't naturally thinned out, you'll want to thin out those eyebrows. You may want the look of someone's eyebrows but remember, your eyebrows should fit YOUR face. Fight eyebrow envy and enhance what God gave you and only you.

Happy Tweezing.
