National Healthcare Woes.

Posted Dec 23 2008 9:14pm
T he National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE ) as part of the British National Health Service has come under fire for some of its recent spending practices. From the Daily Express comes a story about spending more money on "spin doctors" rather than on approving medications for patients.

The term "spin doctor" is somewhat derogatory. The term became popular in the 1980s. Its exact origin is uncertain, but spindoctor is often used to describe public relations experts as well as political or corporate representatives whose job it is to put a 'positive spin' on events or situations.

With the U.S. looking hard at government controlled single payer health insurance this type of political healthcare red tape is a real byproduct that many of us may face in the future. Already countless procedures and medications are denied by third party payers for reimbursement.
