One medium egg is about 78 calories, 6 g. protein, 6 g of fat and 200 g of cholesterol.  They  also are a fabulous source of vitamin B12. Eggs are referred to as the "standard protein" because their whites contain the most complete protein you can find in nature.  Are they fattening?  Not essentially.  You need to look at your TOTAL energy intake... everything can be fattening and nothing is fattening.  It's the combination of ALL of the things that you eat compare to ALL of the energy that you spend.

Considering the high-quality protein they offer, eggs are a good value.  But they also are cholesterol-rich, which may be a problem if you have high cholesterol.

In short: NO, eggs are not fattening if you make them part of a balanced diet... and they are excellent nutrition.  Yet, eating an EXCESS of eggs can lead to hypercholesterolemia.  Keep it all in balance.
