According to researchers at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 74 percent of binge drinkers tend to indulge in beer more than other alcoholic beverages. The researchers surveyed over 14,000 binge drinkers in 18 different states, and defined binge drinking as having five or more consecutive drinks. In the study, beer comprised 67 percent of the consumed binge drinks, and was followed by distilled spirits at 22 percent, and wine and premixed drinks at 11 percent. Additionally, beer was the primary choice of drinkers who were most likely to cause alcohol-related damage, as in drinking and driving.
