Feed Me: Memorial Day Barbecue Menu

Posted May 21 2009 11:26pm

This weekend is memorial day and barbecue is on my mind. With only four Sundays left until our farmers market starts (and my family’s weekend are occupied with serious work for 16 straight weeks), leisure time is on my mind. This weekend I’ve got a mind to do some real serious barbecueing. So this week I’m sharing some special recipes from my favorite food bloggers.

Edible Aria's Gulf Crab Cakes

Edible Aria's Gulf Crab Cakes

First, I’d start with Gulf Crab Cakes with Orange Habañero Mayonnaise posted at Edible Aria. Featuring celery, garlic, onion, chili and scallions, these crab cakes look phenomenal. Plus the sauce of honey, habeñero and orange looks like a delicious accompaniment.

Potato Salad by Hot Off the Garlic Press

Of course, what’s a barbequeue without potato salad? Next up would be Mint and Garlic Aioli Potato Salad by Hot Off the Garlic Press. The potato salad takes a really neat twist with the unusual but refreshing inclusion of mint.

Jamaican Ribs by Caveman Food

Then, I’d serve these Jamaican Jerk Ribs posted at Caveman Food. Heavily flavored with thyme, red pepper, nutmeg and other spices, they’re a good alternative to ribs slathered with sweet, sugary sauce.

Nourishing Gourmet's Lemon Curd Bars

Lastly, I’d serve up Nourishing Gourmet’s Lemon Curd Bars for a sweet, refreshing treat at the end of the party. And, unlike conventional lemon bars, these are grain-free.

And, of course, these photos aren’t mine: they belong to the original bloggers. Go check out their sights and meet back here next Thursday for another food-web-inspired menu!

Also, don’t forget to enter this week’s giveaway for a vintage cookbook! Plus help me out by taking the Nourished Kitchen Reader Survey.
