Fiberlicious Health and nutrition experts all have been telling us how important a good breakfast is. Too often our on-the-go for convenience culture breakfasts are high-fat and high-sugar foods with hardly any nutritional value. Specifically a high fiber breakfast can help you start your day off right by guaranteeing that you get the recommended Daily Fiber Recommendations from the National Academy of Sciences:

| For Women | For Men |
| Ages 19-50 | 25 grams | 38 grams |
| Over Age 50 | 21 grams | 30 grams |
Insoluble fiber is the kind that helps our digestive system operate smoothly. I know I feel much better on a high fiber diet, but I wanted to give you some back up research so you know the benefits. I found an awesome video from cbs.com
http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=1124285nThis video emphasizes the Benefits of Fiber are...
It promotes a healthy digestive system
Helps prevent obesityHelps prevent diabetes
Helps prevent heart disease
Now I have been eating fiber cereal for a few years and have gone through the ringer with all the brands, flavors, etc. When I shop for a fiber cereal I read the nutritional info and it has to have under 10 grams of sugar and more than 10 grams of fiber. This is where you need to belucky I am your guinea pig, because you won't have to try all the nasty cardboard-esque cereals. There are a few that actually taste great!
Here are my top 2 that meet all my requirements...
So, in short- I try to have a small bowl (1 cup serving size) a day, preferably in the morning. Don't overdo the amount you have because your sugar intake will go up. All you need is one cup to get all the fiber you need.
One last note, if you are trying to do a digestive cleanse of sorts and totally do overkill on the fiber intake (more than 50 grams a day) make sure you drink lots of water, so you don't get dehydrated and I
wouldn't recommend doing this often. But I would be lying if I say I never tried it!
Ok readers! Are you willing to try this little tip?
Or are you already doing this, how do you feel?
