Make your salads even healthier!

Posted by Kristen D.

While I might be tempted to turn my plain salad into a taco salad once in a while, I've just learned of several ingredients that can be added to a salad to add to it's nutritional value and taste fantastic. Among those that might not immediately come to mind when putting a salad together include fruits, like apples or berries, nuts and seeds, and seafood, like salmon.

I usually try to make a salad into a meal ...so things like fruits, leftover chicken turkey or salmon, nuts and flax oil viniagrette are regular parts of the "meal."

Today, I threw in deli turkey and sliced up orange with the regulars like mixed field greens, grape tomatoes, cukes, sweet peppers and carrots. It ends up being a bowl with every nutritional variable covered.

I don't even try to be standard about the tableware..I use a pretty serving bowl. That way I can get tons of fresh veggies which make up the bulk of the meal.
