Tender Greens

Posted Jun 12 2009 6:40pm
For our weekly lunch meet-up, the BF and I decided to try something new and, unfortunately, kind of far from my work. I had heard that Tender Greens had some very healthy selections and used a lot of fresh organic produce in their dishes, so of course, I had to give it a try. I even found out that they had a raw entree on their menu. Well, needless to say, I was totally sold.

The restaurant is in a huge strip mall, so it was somewhat hard to find, and it is run kinda cafeteria style. You just order what you want and then watch as they make it before picking it up at the end of the line. Then you head out to your table in their incredibly inviting outdoor patio.

I ordered the "Salad in the Raw" which has eight vegetables, raw nuts, and a living vinaigrette.

It was magical. It was so huge I couldn't finish, but I did stare longingly at the remaining salad on plate. I wish I could have eaten every last drop. The dressing was absolutely one of the best vinaigrettes I've ever had. I really have to learn how to make a living vinaigrette now! I love ordering raw entrees because I don't have to worry about how anything was prepared since there is no cooking involved. No sneaky unhealthiness can be introduced!

The BF, being the carnivore that he is, ordered the Steak Sandwich which comes on rustic bread with aioli, roasted peppers and a side salad. He was a little hungry, and a lot overzealous and began devouring his sandwich before I had even gotten my camera out, so please excuse the missing portion in the pic. I love my little carnivore!

He thought the sandwich was fantastic, but did note that the aioli was quite thick and creamy with a decidedly "not-health-nut" feel to it. Most people, including the BF, are totally fine with that. I stole a small taste of the roasted pepper with a little aioli on it being the non-carnivore that I am. It tasted pretty darn good!

My overall review is AWESOME. This one is going on the list! I want to come back and try their vegan salad they have!
