Terra Bakery - All Kinds of Wonderful!

Posted Oct 05 2009 10:01pm

Lea's Terra Bakery

A couple weeks ago, we headed to a farmer's market in my hometown. It's just over an hour away so we don't go there often. A few years ago, we'd gotten the best garlic we've ever had at that market. But this year one of the testers for my cookbook had a booth there and I was excited about the chance to meet her. On top of meeting the wonderful Lea, we also got to sample some of her incredible baked goods.

The lemon meringue pie was perfection in pie. Truly. The carrot cake was moist, delicious, and with just the right spice mix. I thought I was going to have to arm wrestle another customer for the cherry coffee cake, and believe me, I would have. It was delicious. We also sampled a brownie, (dark and decadent) and I think there were a few other goodies. We got there toward the tail-end of the market, and Lea was nearly sold out!

We also got to taste about a dozen salsas for a salsa contest. The salsas weren't for sale, but if they had been, we would have left with several jars. We also got tons of garlic (YAY!), tomatoes, corn on the cob, and some fingerlings.

The last week for the market is this Saturday. If you happen to be in the area, it's definitely worth checking out. Lea is there every other week, so I don't think she is scheduled for this last date. I'm already planning to hit the market the first week she's there in 2010! In the meantime, she was so busy we didn't get a chance to talk much. But we're going to get together soon. Lea is just as sweet as her baked goods.

Hope these beautiful sweets have brightened your Monday!
