Yesterday was a very big day. I made good on two promises: 1) to arrange a therapy appointment and 2) to attend a yoga class and give it a second chance.

What was the therapy trigger, you might ask? Well, the previous night, I am embarassed to say I had a chew-and-spit incident with leftover birthday cake. We’d given most of it away and I’d diligently abstained and well, at 2 a.m. cake was in my mouth and then the trash.

(Lesson learned: eat the damn cake, just a small piece, when you want it–not at 2 a.m.)

Though my midnight eating and chew-and-spit incidents have been fewer and further between since blogging here, I realized yesterday that perhaps I can’t do this entirely on my own. And so I set up a therapy appointment for next week with a psychologist who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy.

Now on to something more uplifting! I know you’re dying to know how last night’s yoga class went. It was a 2-hour, level 2 vinyasa/flow class, and it was definitely an experience.

I have to admit, despite being a gym rat, the notion of a two-hour class freaked me out. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to keep up–or even want to! (more…)
