Your preferred breakfast

Posted by Nirmala N.

I recently read an article that said breakfast bars and fast-food breakfast meals have replaced the typical waffle, hot cereal, or cold cereal for most adults. Kashi Foods reported that fewer than 40 percent of American adults even eat breakfast regularly, while a recent news poll discovered 39 percent of adults have admitted to eating cold pizza for breakfast. How do you feel about that most important meal of the day, and what do you usually eat?

always eat . breakfast is THE most important meal of the day and crucial if you want to lose weight i usually drink my black coffee (4 oz, no milk, no sugar) and within 1/2 hr or so i eat either: * 1 slice mix grain bread + low fat yogurt (150-300 grams depends on the brand) or * 1 slice mix grain bread + 0.25 cup diced swiss cheese (low fat) + tomato/pepper or * 1 cup milk 1% + 30 g cereals (different mixes) or * 1 slice mix grain bread + 1 hard boiled egg + pepper/tomato or I might make a smoothie (low fat yogurt /milk + fruits of choice) IF i have to leave home FAST (aka exam or something similar), I grab a cereal bar (99 cal)
Cereal & skim milk. I usually have cereal and skim milk with half a banana. I also like an egg, fried or boiled, with a piece of dry toast. Coffee is a must! I also will settle for a Kashi bar, but only if I have to. Sometimes I'll just have a latte - I figure all that milk counts as a meal in a pinch!
Premier Protein Bar. I like going to bed on an empty stomach, so I don't eat past 7PM. For that reason, I love to eat breakfast. I am pretty much an on the go type person, so about four or five years ago, I started my morning with a Premier Protein Bar and coffee. The bar has 30g of Protein and the sugar content isn't too bad -- 10g. As the morning moves along, I will eat nuts or a salad. Robert O. Young, who touts high-alkaline diet, stresses a nice green, leafy and vegetable salad for breakfast. Although he wouldn't agree with my coffee, I do like the salad in the morning.
Breakfast is a must!. I used to forgo breakfast but I retrained myself to eat it. Now I have oatmeal and a banana or make a parfait of yogurt and fruit with a sprinkle of Grape Nuts on top.
snack to kickstart breakfast!. As suggested by my dietician, I usually have a granola bar in the morning around 9 a.m. She wanted to give me a chocolate alternative and get me eating more in the morning, so a chocolate covered granola bar was the perfect solution (much less fat and calories than a chocolate bar.) Later, I have cereal (multigrain cheerios) with 1% milk (and for a drink, some of a bottle of water) for breakfast around 10 a.m. I feel sick if I eat breakfast any earlier than 9:30 a.m., as I am not a morning person. My son can take the credit for not only getting me up before 11 a.m. but for introducing breakfast before noon into my routine. He gets up at 8 a.m., which means I do too! Note: My breakfast would be much more well-rounded if I added fruit to it. My dietician recommends this breakfast: 1/2 grapefruit, 2 slices whole wheat toast, 1 tsp margarine or lightly spread 1 tbsp jam, 1 cup coffee (I don't drink coffee so this is out)
I love breakfast!. Breakfast is not only my favorite meal of the day, but also my favorite time of day. I get to work an hour early, way before anyone else has arrived. I read a book, or check my email, relax, and settle into my morning. I take a full hour to eat. I bring with me yogurt, fiber cereal, and blueberries or strawberries. I mix it all together in a bowl, and make some tea. MMMMmmmM.
