Here's the scoop:
- for some caffeine can be an appetite stimulant
- for some caffeine can be an appetite suppressent
- for some caffeine can be irritating to the stomach lining and promote ulceration in weak lining
- for some caffeine can help with bowel mobiity and prevent constipation
- for some caffeine can cause gastro-upset
- for some caffeine can cause jitteriness and increased blood pressure
- in doses over 400mg caffeine can interfer with calcium absorption
- in doses over 500-600mg caffeine can be dehydrating
- the tannins in coffee (moreso in tea) interfers with the absorption of iron
- remember that even decaf coffee contains caffeine
Know all the facts. Do your research and understand what caffeine will do to your body and why. Then make the decision based on that education whether or not you'll be a coffee drinker.
