On the subways, I’m noticing the billboards for the upcoming cancer walks.TheAvonand the American Cancer Society walks are weeks away.
I’ve participated in these walks (my mother is a two time survivor, and I’ve lost several relatives to cancer) and I’m concerned that while these events are inspirational, that they may be misleading the public.
There is a cure for cancer, but it’s not in a vaccine or a treatment. It’s in the minds and consciences of Big Business who are poisoning us with toxins through our water, our food, our soil and our air. If all of these contaminations stopped today, it would still take years to clean our environment and our own bodies. So cancer will continue to fester in all of us and manifest itself in far too many of us. Cancer isn’t a blameless disease as I’ve heard it called. There are many people to blame, starting with the senior executives of the major food, chemical and pharmaceutical companies. Yes, pharmaceuticals, the firms you thought were curing cancer.

Dr. Devra Davis, in her book, THE SECRET HISTORY OF THE WAR ON CANCER, suggests that only Truth and Reconciliation Committees can begin the process of halting the flood of toxins in our bodies. While I’d rather string the bastards from the light posts of theirPark Avenueneighborhoods, I imagine she’s right.
Let the truth be known and clear the decks. Only then can a “cure” for cancer be found. Until then….
