In Tough Economic Times Remember What Makes You Happy!

Posted Dec 12 2008 1:25pm

It is difficult to find happiness with such rough economic times plaguing the global economic landscape.  The economic crisis has grown into a global catastrophe of sorts and we need to go back to the basics in order to make it through.

Make a conscious effort to appreciate the good things in life.  Your children, family, and friends are a great source of pleasure.  Use time with them to talk about positive things and save talking about the "downers" for another occasion.  Spend more time with them and enjoy the moments you have with them.  When you're at work or going through a difficult situation the memories of these times can make all the difference in the world.

I used to watch, read, or listen to news programming for hours each day.  I've curbed that habit down to less than 60 minutes, which is probably still too much.  I am not saying you shouldn't be aware of the important news being made each day, just try not to dwell on it.  At a minimum try to escape from it for a few moments each day.

This holiday season is a difficult one for many families across the globe.  When tough economic times hit, charities are often left with smaller budgets and the inability to help others.  Try not to forget about those who need us and make contributions to your favorite charities or volunteer to help out.  Helping others can also be a great source for personal happiness!

I wish you all a Happy & Healthy holiday season!

Markus
