What causes pain in shoulder and under arm?

I work outside on a local grounds crew. Since last Friday I have had a pain in my shoulder and in my armpit. We have been doing a lot of raking lately which involves moving my biceps. My muscle doesn't burn and it isn't sore (like it can be when one works out) but this is a general discomfort in my left shoulder/armpit. It's not a very intense pain, it's more discomfort. When I feel around, I don't really notice anything out of place (but then again, I'm not too sure what's correct). The best way to describe it is if you were to take your hand and place it in your armpit, and twist it slightly so your fingers pinch against your arm. The discomfort is pretty weak in the morning but as the day goes on, it can become slightly more intense, but never truly debilitating. It's more in my left arm than my right, I barely get the same sensation in my right shoulder. I didn't have this pain until late last week. Is it possible I stretched or strained the tendon? Also, I went to my Dr. a couple weeks ago for sinus pressure and he believes it could be allergies. In feeling my armpit, I haven't noticed any swollen lymph nodes. I know what the ones in my neck feel like, but I can't seem to find any in my armpits. Am I missing something or could it be a pulled/stretched/strained muscle?
