Oh, my goodness, she can hit fast-pitch! Yes!
Yesterday, the Senators (surely they'll make a better showing than our current D.C. delegation) practiced indoors because it was so cold. The facility is big enough to work off the tee, practice fielding and work in the batting cage.
Even with all the background noise, three different coaches at three different stations, parents talking and bats cracking balls and balls popping gloves, Riley was able to hear and follow instructions.
Once she got in the cage and got in the groove, it was on. She made connect with nearly every pitch that was in the zone. (We'll have to work on being selective later.) And she had a little pop in her bat, too. She still needs to swing faster and harder, but I'm please with the contact she was making. And she was pleased, too. :-)
She also did really well on fielding and throwing. After practice, though, most of the parents agreed on getting
fielding face masks. I sure don't want her to get hit in the face and never want to play again. So I think another trip to
Dick's is in order.
I wish I had pictures, but a flash would be too distracting inside, so I'll save my photography skills for outdoor practices and the games.
And after Sunday's snow day, tomorrow's high is 67 and Saturday's is 75. Perfect softball weather!
