what is causing my extrasystoles?

Posted by Gilles V.

Hello,

I'm 22 year old male. I don't smoke, drink or use caffeïne.I don't do sports. Nothing is wrong with my heart, i've had it checked a couple of times by my doctor and cardiologists.

The only thing they did find was that I have a quite pronounced sinus arrhythmia (my heart rate can go from 60 to 110 through inspiration).

Since last week ectopic beats have been driving me mad. During the day I rarely have ectopic beats but every single night since last week I'm having them. They start about about 30 min after I got into bed and occur 1-5 times/minute. When i wake up in the morning they are still there but when I come out of bed they are gone after 5 minutes. My heartrate at rest is 50-60. I haven't had any panic attacks/stress during these nights.

I know some might think that the reason they happen during the night is because when I'm in rest they are more easily noticable. I guarantee you this is not the reason, I can easily feel them when i have them during the day.

My doctor believes my biological pacemaker is very sensitive and that is causing my extrasystoles when in rest. He prescribed me magnesium and potassium which i've been taking for a few days. I really want to solve this problem because it's hard for me to fall asleep like this and it makes me depressed.

Is there anyone that recognises this or has an idea of what is going on?
