What is the correct name when the artery leading from the heart is split in two and narrowed

My husband died from falling from a tree and at his inquest, it was reported his artery leading from the heart had a split in it and went into two, and it also had narrowing. this is a birth defect apparantly. Is it linked in anyway to our son who died at two days old from transposition of the great arteries
