Keeping medical records is the responsibility of the patient

Pictured above is Gloria's medical record. Unlike most western countries,
patients are responsible for keeping their medical records and then bringing
them each time they see the doctor. The clinics do not have the space or
the resources to keep everyone's records on file. Most people like to buy a
binder and decorate it with their favorite celebrity. sports figure, or
fashions. Gloria's record reflects her commitment to her treatment. She
has pasted information about how AIDS can be transmitted and the importance
of using a condom. The white paper with writing is a warning for one of her
ARV's, Viramune, and it reads *warning: the first 18 weeks of therapy are
critical and require intensive monitoring for life threatening skin
reactions such as Steven-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis or
hepatitis/hepatic failure. *This is just another way in which Gloria lives
openly with this disease and at the same time educates others. She is to be
admired.
