I am a business owner and mother of a daughter with Asperger's. I have very successfully treated my daughter using biomedical treatments, diet, stress-reduction, cleaning up her environment and immense amounts of love & patience. While it took me five years to get an official diagnosis, I knew I was on a journey the entire time. I've know I was on the ASD journey for 3 of those five years. By the time she was two, I knew what I was dealing with. I treated my daughter despite resistance, lack of validation, against all judgment and despite a lack of diagnosis. I advocated for my daughter and pushed for second, third and even fourth opinions. I didn't take no for an answer and if one physician thought a test was unnecessary, I asked another, and another, and another, until someone agreed to help me get the answers I now have. I hope that I can be an inspiration and provide strength to other moms who are hearing that they are crazy, that they are uneducated idiots or that they are bad moms. I hope that I can reach out to them and show them that they are not. That I believe in them and that they are the only experts on their child. I hope I can inspire them to keep going, to keep asking, and most importantly, to keep listening to that little voice in their head and that feeling in their gut. Regardless of what people tell them or think....you know best!
