The Waterfall Loop is one of the most gorgeous hikes I've ever been on. A great summer hike with lots of cool shade from the huge old growth redwoods. During peak season on the weekends, there are plenty of crowds, but there are few other hikers during mid-week. The hike is graded as strenuous by most references, with a scramble up some stone stairs near the waterfalls with a rope railing that you will need to hang on to. On the hike, you will encounter 3 water falls, the first of which is situated directly across a large flat boulder perfect for a picnic lunch. And a mid-hike shower under the Golden Cascade Waterfall is refreshing. :) Can't wait to camp here--there are several campsites, with a fee of $25 per site and a max of 8 people/2 cars, but check the website for accurate details.

We headed through the GG Park and down...
Nice hair vs. helmets by vicki l. Jun 21 07 11:18pm I admit for the longest time, I never wore a bike helmet. The only reason -- vanity. I just didn't want to deal with helmet hair. But one day, I was planning a ride with my new beau, who rides centuries. "Where's your helmet?" he asked, "Don't have one." "I'm not riding with you if you don’t have...
Horse Vaulting by Kenna M. Jul 19 07 8:09am If you love gymnastics, why not love horse vaulting. My daughter, who is six, went with her godmother and watched her godmother's niece, who is an Olympic gold medalist, teach half a dozen young girls horse vaulting. It looked like quite a workout. Strength and precision is what come to mind...
