@Matt12gauge Totally One of the most underrated coaches in the UK in my opinion. Far too good not to be doing this full time! Criminal! 9 days ago

Road To The Mundials - Update - April 4th till 10th

Posted Jun 02 2009 4:32pm
This entry is part 11 of 12 in the series Road to the Mundials

At the moment this blog is quiet and the main reason for that is all the time consuming extra training and coaching I’m doing at the moment at the new training facility (posh word for - Gym). Stick with it, as I’ve been scribbling notes, racking my brain and have a lot of good material backed up for this blog over the coming months, it’s just a matter of finding the time!

For now I’ll continue to use this as place to post my training diaries and hopefully post up bits and bobs when I get chance.

4th April - In the open mat sessions I’m really focusing on finding and working a gameplan for the competition. This is coming quite naturally really and these open mats are giving me a great opportunity to iron out a few kinks in it and really streamline by initial ideas. As ever some great rolls in the gi.

7th April - Missed as I was away in York.

9th April - Today was my second Private with Steve Campbell and already these are paying off as his eye for details is exactly what I like and need. Today we were continuing to look at my passing game and the few ideas from his last session are already starting to bed in nicely and can only become more refined over time.

These privates are brilliant and having the chance to play Passing Vs Sweeping for a hour with a high level local Black Belt is just invaluable. More please! Smile

My private with Steve was followed swiftly by Doug’s no-gi passing guard session (less than 30 mins in between sessions), which dove tailed into the private nicely. I was getting a bit tired towards the end of the session - having worked all day too! - but it’s all good for the soul.
