Abdominal pain when I deep breathe meditate

I am one of those people who is accustomed to breathing from the chest. I have spent my life highly strung. I am trying to mediate and train myself to breathe from the abdomen. I have noticed, though, that I have pain in my stomach when I breathe.
Is this normal?
