Meditation, mind and the full moon

by S J.

Meditations are highly beneficial to do in a group on full moon nights. The mind and the moon are connected, and on full moon days the mind is very light.

The Art of Living Foundations conducts full moon meditations and the best part is they dont require any proir experience and are FREE.

So if live in the Bay Area log on to http://www.artoflivingsfba.org/fullmoon.html for venue details.

The moon has a strong influence on the huge oceans, whose tides rise and fall according to the lunar cycles. In the same way the moon has a sway on the human body, which is made-up of 60 per cent of fluids. The moon has also a power on the mind. Mind is connected with the moon and full moon is a symbol of completion and pinnacle of celebration. Among the 12-13 full moons in a year the vaishakha full moon is dedicated to Buddha (his birth and enlightenment), jyeshtha full moon to mother earth and the aashadha full moon is dedicated to the memory of masters. This is Guru-poornima. Full moon meditation is best done after moon rise, directly or indirectly one should feel the moonlight falling on themselves, on your face, let your mind absorbs the light of the full moon. - H. H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder, The Art Of Living Foundation. Meditating in a Group is highly beneficial and even more so on Full Moon nights. The mind and the moon are connected, and on full moon days the mind is very light. Our full moon meditations are free and open to all. Organized by Art of Living. http://www.artoflivingSFBA.org/fullmoon.html I have also read that there is heightened actiivty of the mind on the full moon day. It is also possible to awaken thoughts about Spirituality that lie inert in the sub-conscious mind of a spiritually inclined person by taking advantage of the heightened mind activity and by increasing spiritual practice on a full moon day.

- - - it sounds like something slightly intimidatins, yet alluring. Meditation is more about peace and calm, but when i read meditation on a full moon night - i got some goose bumps. But yes, i will definitely love to know why? I think I will do some research and get back to you guys on this.

...but I always feel more creative right around the full moon. I think I've also read that the full moon has a different effect on women than men (for obvious reasons, I'm sure). A lot of spiritual backgrounds describe the time of the waxing moon as a time to focus on abundance, while the waning moon is a time to focus on letting go. So I guess the full moon is an in-between time of passionate detachment? It's an interesting idea for me. :)

What does the full moon do - specifically how the moon affect your meditation. I know it must do something to us because we are so much water! I'd love to know how it affects our minds.
