
It sounds like you might have either strained an abductor muscle or possibly have irritated your IT band (illiotibial band) syndrome, a fascial sheath that runs from your hip to the outside of your knee. Palying football can lead to a tight or inflamed IT band. I recommend gentle icing, resting and elevation. Once the pain decreases, try some gentle hip-opening stretches.
You might try some over the counter pain relief pills.
Check with a doctor for a correct diagnosis.

it occured a while back maybe when i played sports (Football). but everytime i seem to stretch the LEFT side of my leg, i feel the worse pain...help?
