The Ab Coaster. You’ve seen it on TV and have seen the price. I did a short write up on this around the first of the year and I wasn’t very impressed by it because it’s an expensive machine…and it was on TV. I’ve been doing a lot of review reading on this product and I obviously made a poor judgement call when I called it a “ Mostly Useless ” machine without actually using the device.
Upon reading quite a few reviews of this machine, the overall conclusion is that it is very effective in working your abdominal muscles. The same problem everyone seems to have is that it costs $400.00. Here are a couple of opinions and reviews of the Ab Coaster.
This person at Epinions did a review of the Yukon CDL (Chin-Dip-Leg raise) tower and then kind of compared how the Ab Coaster was more convenient for her because she is a shorter woman and the CDL is difficult and uncomfortable for here to use because of height. Her final verdict of the Ab Coaster?
“I would love this machine if I had a home gym and need that one ab machine; however, it is expensive.”
Totally understandable. Being open minded this time around has made me think of how uncomfortable doing hanging leg raises are with arm straps, but I still like CDL stations.
The Fun Fit Blog says the Ab Coaster is very effective and sturdy but still finds the price too high for a machine dedicated to only two exercises.
“Do I want an Ab Coaster? Yes. Will I buy one? Probably not. I think I’ll use that $415 towards my home gym treadmill fund (aPrecor 9.35sounds good). Because abs are all about low body fat, a treadmill would probably give me better defined abs than the Ab Coaster.”
Other very short reviews have said that unlike other abdominal exercises and machines, the Ab Coaster does not bother the persons lower back. So if you’ve been thinking about buying an Ab Coaster then what you need to do is figure out if the machine is for YOU. Weigh the pros and cons of effectiveness vs. how much you’re willing to spend on exercise equipment. Do you want a machine that works more than one muscle group or are you content with targeting only your abdominal muscles? How much use will this machine get and will you grow tired of it after a year or less. How frequently will you use this machine and will that frequency of use be effective? What other machines, Workout Station or exercises may benefit your lifestyle, health and workout?
So the overall contention of the Ab Coaster is that; although it is an effective product that is built well, it’s quite expensive for a machine dedicated to a single muscle group. So effectiveness is not the issue here, but the price is debatable. However, if you hold out for a few months, the price may drop and you might be able to add this to your home gym for much less than it’s current price on television.
