Why are there red bumps on the back of my tongue? They're like enlarged tastebuds that showed up last week?

Posted by hyperchondriac

I have these red bumps on the back of my tongue that appeared last week, also alongside a white discoloration on the back of my tongue as well... Its discomfortable, but not painful. It is sort of like an irritating itch, or more like something is stuck there.. I checked it, and nothing is there that should not be aside from the red bumps.

It can't be allergies, because it has persisted but has not gotten worse over the course of a week. I certainly hope this is not cancer, or some sort of VD. Please help!

Red bumps on the back of your tongue can be caused by allergic reactions, oral herpes simplex virus infection, canker sores, tuberculosis, bacterial infections, or early-stage syphilis. Red bumps can also be caused by immune system disorders.

You should seek the advice of a doctor about your tongue red bumps.
