Arshile Gorky: The Shape Shifter

Posted Nov 01 2009 10:00pm

Excellent video on this unknown artist Arshile Gorky, at least to me. He certainly did some impressive work. This video is also a short history of Turkish and Armenian struggle. He was inspired by Picasso in the beginning of his work. He appeared to be a source of inspiration to Willem de Kooning, an abstract expressionist artist, born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Some of his wall paitings in New York Airport were recovered after they had been paitend over during the second world war. Unfortunately he killed himself in 1948 at the age of 46.
