Free Mental Health Humor : Hare-Trigger Emotions ( Free ebook )

Posted Nov 18 2008 12:04am

 -*-*-*-*-*-* SITE MAP *-*-*-*-*-*-*-

We all have emotions but I’m sure we all can agree people, like myself, those of us dealing with disorders, tend to have well, hare (hair)-trigger emotions! Have you ever been shopping and at the check out line… then without an outside provocation you just start crying… Over NOTHING! Or doing the same thing and waves of joy and happiness kick in? Does this sound strange? Most women can undersand this, they deal with monthly chemical explosions… Now I can say that gals, I grew up with three older sisters… and I got to know when to leave the room.

The emotions I’m talking about here, go beyond that and for many of us, it can bring us places we just don’t want to go but we have no control… Think back to when you were a kid… remember playing with the garden hose? Remember, letting go of it and watching it flap, swing, and snap out of control… well, that is the type I’m talking about.

Can you relate at all to my rabbit below?

The following excerpt is from the self help psychology book, “Be Your Own Therapist”.

“What is emotional health anyway? A useful definition of emotional health is the ability to express all emotions appropriately. Those who have this ability are surely mentally healthy. Being emotionally stuck is often the best indicator of current lack of emotional health.I might be stuck in depression or stress, stuck in anger at my favorite targets, stuck in obsessive fears, or stuck in perpetual guilt or shame. Obviously, this indicator of emotional health suggests that many of us lack emotional health much of the time. “
