Hi Tina,
I am sorry to hear that you have menstrual migraines. I used to get them, too. They are terrible. I think you should see a migraine specialist for your migraines. They appear to be severe enough to warrant this. There are prescription medicines that may prevent them and abortive medicine that will stop them when they happen. This may help the bruise to resolve.
You are using ice, which is a good remedy for a mild migraine. It is better than rubbing your forehead and bruising it again. I would suggest using arnica ointment for the bruise.
I agree with amigraineur, Tina. I think you should talk to a GP or neurologist about your menstrual migraine and see if you can get on preventive meds for them. You may not have to take meds every day, maybe just right before and during your period. I start taking Naproxen sodium (Aleve) two days before my menstrual-related migraine begins and continue taking it every 12 hours until my period is over--this cuts down on the severity and frequency of the migraine attacks during and right before my period. There's also some more intense and migraine-related therapy (Frova comes to mind) that some docs prescribe for menstrual migraine, but that method proved prohibitively expensive for me.
Please see a doctor just about the migraines and see what he/she can do for you. Don't start taking drugs before the doctor approves!
I use tiger balm (found in Asian medicine stores, some "regular" (American) pharmacies, and more. Feels so nice. Once your migraines get a bit better, you won't feel the need to rub on your forehead so much!
Good luck!
Tina,
I've been getting migraines for many years (especially menstual migraines.) For the last 4 months, I've been getting forehead bruises too. At first, I had a bruise on the right temple that never completely healed. For the last 2 weeks, I'd also been bruising on the top right of my forehead. My coworker even noticed the bruise worsening after a bad headache. I have no idea why it happens, but am glad to know I'm not the only one who gets this. I do take prescription migraine meds (Zomig & Midrin.) I also take Excedrin Migraine.

hi, i get really bad migraines on the middle of my forehead. i only get them before/durring/after my period. its really weird..because most girls get cramps..i dont even get those..instead i get these really bad migraines..and what i do is..i usually take my finger and rub it in that area. and now i have a bruise. i have been having this bruise since high school. now im 21years old and i still have it. the only way i can cover it up is by weaing MAC concealer. but im just curious if anyone knew if i could do plastic surgery? Haha im sure that wont help the migraine..but at least the bruise wont be there anymore. its just reallly ugly having a bruise esp since its in the middle of my face!!! and why isnt this bruise going away already?! i know i shouldnt rub it..but it hurts like crazy..i take excedrin migraine whenever i have this pain or i wrap an ice pack around my forehead..until it numbs that area. But still it doesnt go away. i saw a dermatologist and she said..i should stop rubing it and gave me some ointment...but that didnt work either. this is just driving me insane!!!! if anyone could give me some kinda feedback....that would be awesome!
