A Good Day

Posted Mar 04 2009 3:10pm
What started out as a terrible day yesterday turned quite good. Early in the day, I felt totally out of control. Too much to do. I have a tendency to do that: promise the world to everyone and then kill myself trying to deliver.

Yesterday I had a moment of clarity and I realized I couldn't do it all...

The moment I decided to send my husband to the Houston Livestock Show without me, and let me stay here and watch over the ranch, go to baseball practice, and feed and clothe my son, I felt peace.

Finding a peaceful haven in the midst of pure chaos is just heavenly...

Then things started getting better. My headache lifted. I sent hubby with the donation that I created for the ABBA Silent Auction. I figured that I have all of these Brahman cow-inspired t-shirts, that I should create a package of shirts for the Brahman Auction. Sure sounds like they are my target audience, don'tcha think? Here's the finished product:

I was happy with it. 4 Fab Farm shirts in a hot pink milk pail, trimmed with bling, bows, and yes... the Brahman cows... The funny thing is though, that I was second guessing EVERYTHING about this, not sure how it would be received. And adding to my angst was that I wouldn't be there to see it delivered, I was entrusting Hubby to do it for me...

I didn't have much time to think and worry about it because as soon as I finished that, I needed to upload hundreds of photos to a flash drive to play on a digital photo frame at our booth at the show. This was relatively easy since I take zillions of photos, but I had to scrutinize which photos 'made the grade' by Hubby's standards, knowing that he's looking for voluminous cows and strong horses, not 'pretty landscapes' and 'artsy images' like someone else we know... (ha!)

Did it, delivered it to Hubby, and headed out on Trip 2 to Huntsville to pick up my son from school. Hubby took off for Houston.

I was sad that I couldn't go, but comforted by the feeling of peacefulness at not having to feel like I was shirking my responsbilities to baseball (I'm Team Mom and had a bunch of stuff to pass out last night) or to the ranch (someone had to be here in the afternoon).

Hubby delivered the basket donation to the designated place and called me to tell me that it had been well-received. Relief! I was happy with that...

What I couldn't have imagined was that 3 hours later he would call to tell me that the girl coordinating the auction to start Wednesday morning (today!) had already received a $150 bid on my basket and the auction wouldn't even start until 8am this morning! YAY!!!

I was thrilled. It felt great to know that someone other than me (!) likes my designs and is willing to pay big bucks for them! I'm hoping that my donation will generate some extra cash for the Junior Brahman Association and of course, get alittle recognition for Fab Farm Design! Giddy Up!

After Trip 3 to Huntsville yesterday for baseball practice (where little 2 homeruns!) I was content that I had fulfilled all of my obligations, and I was happy that I had some successes in the process! :) Good day!
