Olive that and then some

Posted Oct 29 2008 9:29am

Olive that and then some It’s no secret that olive oil is high in monounsaturated fat content and is a cornucopia of antioxidant substances. For these reasons, the Mediterranean diet staple has become extremely popular in cooking circles. What may be a secret, however is that olive oil has a number of uses beyond merely eating healthily.

No More Earaches
Two to four drops of warm olive oil can soothe an aching ear. Take caution not to get the olive oil too hot or you may severely burn yourself.

Healthy Skin
Due to its high concentration of fatty acids, olive oil makes a great conditioner for the skin. The high levels of antioxidants present in olive oil are excellent for slowing the aging process of the skin.

Vibrant Hair
Okay, this one really isn’t much of a secret, it’s just a use other than consumption. It’s not uncommon to go down the hair care aisle of any pharmacy and see multiple products which contain olive oil.
