Runaway Turkey

Posted Nov 24 2008 9:25am
This will be short as I'm a mile behind already on my To Do List and not making any headway. However, couldn't go through my day without telling you whats already happened in it.

This morning? I let Cala out at 5:30. At 6, I let her back in and guess what? She smelled like skunk! She got herself skunked while outside and that smell has permeated the house, despite bathing her at 6 am (now that I think about it, THATS how I got behind the 8 ball today, right off the bat!)

Got kid off to school, driving him in a torrential downpour all the way to Huntsville. Scary stuff. Got there and the rain stopped. Just that quick. Dropped him off with the usual 'I love yous' and kisses and headed to Walmart, which I hate, but figured it had everything I needed under one roof and I'm all about trying to make my life easier these days.

All was well until I made my way to the parking lot and my cart skidded on the wet pavement (remember that rain?) and my frozen Butterball turkey went flying out from the bottom of my cart! I yelled several "OH SHIT"s as I started chasing it. There is a slight hill the store sits on, so you guessed it, good ol' Tom Turkey was gaining speed as he headed down the hill and into oncoming traffic. Yep, cars. Lots of them. And me, bringing up the rear, chasing down the errant turkey.

I caught him before he was made into lunchmeat and collected my cart (thankfully that was wedged against a car and it didn't roll away too) and tried to disappear from the howls of laughter and pointing fingers from all the people in the vicinity.

Bring on that Thanksgiving merriment! And by the way, pour me a margarita why dontcha? I think I'm gonna need one if today's antics are any indication of my week ahead-
