This can turn your exercise routine upside down

Posted by Nancy B.

Celebrities like Rosie O'Donnell and "DaVinci Code" author Dan Brown have turned to inversion -- hanging upside down -- to improve their health. Inversion relieves stress on spinal discs by opening the spaces between the spine and improves circulation of blood by counteracting the impact of gravity. But not everyone should do it, says an article in The Journal News of Westchester County, NY. http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007705130308

Hmmm, something about this doesn't seem all that practical to me. Like CLR, I feel generally uncomfortable whenI'm in a position where all the blood's rushing to my head. Why not try aerobics or swimming to improve circulation instead? :)
I have to say, one of the most uncomfortable experiences for me during yoga is standing on my shoulders/head. Feeling the blood rush to my brain is not really a good sensation and quite honestly, it gives me a headache. However, I'm a huge proponent of hanging off the bed. I have a posting somewhere in here about that. I think the difference is the amount of blood that's actually going into your face/brain/head. And - with inversion - let's be honest. What happens if there's an earthquake?
