I teach a Pilates/Stretch class at my studio and the local YMCA, and the benefits are amazing. So many people have tried a Pilates class or a tape at home and think it's not for them. But we have found that people underestimate the power of stretching before your workout.
When you stretch, you increase the bloodflow and oxygen in the muscles. It's like trying to get a glowstick to work when you have to activate the chemicals first. Once you stretch the muscles, you can safely and effectively lenthen, tone, strengthen and build them.
To this end we offer a Pilates/Stretch class. It's an overall stretch class with Pilates aspects built in for a toning effect that increases your flexibility. We make modifications for those with physical limitations as well. Check it out! It's offered at the YMCA in Middletown, and at The Dance Emporium, Inc. in Middletown, NY.
