Living Well

Posted Nov 10 2008 4:45pm
I have a friend who has to watch what she eats because she has an illness that's related to Lupus. Her doctor has put her on a STRICT diet and she's now very limited as to what she should and can eat.
Unlike me, she has chosen to follow her doctor's orders right away. She exercises daily as well. Everytime we see each other, she questions me about my eating and exercise habits and I think she would agree that I sort of blow the topic off!
About 2 weeks ago, my husband and I ate some extreme tots from Sonics drive-in and afterwards, we both felt TERRIBLE! At that point, we made a NEW commitment to eating right and exercise (again!).
I'm so proud of both of us because although we've made this commitment several times before, I think it's the real deal this time! We're getting older and we realized that our bodies cannot take some of the foods we've eaten when we were younger.
Plus before, we would always go on fad diets...this time, we're eating right and it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change!
I won't say how much I weigh, but I've lost 6 lbs. since we started eating right(I'll keep you posted with my progress).
I told my friend about our awakening experience and she was happy that we FINALLY came on board with changing our eating habits(she said now all she has to do is get her husband on board!). She shared with me that Montel Williams has written a new book called, "Living Well" and thought it was neat because that's the title of my blog.
I read Montel's book called, "Climbing Higher" and it was pretty good. I'll probably read the new book as well and comment on it when I finish it.
I'm sure my Neurologist we'll be happy to see a declining # on the scale my next visit.....it will happen!
