...as I do so often, no surprise there.
I slept so long yesterday, I didn't even get tired last night, and that's a welcome change. Slept till 4:30. Today was shorter - Hayley didn't have school, so hung out at my place and babysat me this morning while I slept, then we went to have coffee with someone who is fast becoming one of my dearest and most trusted friends. I typically have lax boundaries, but with this beautiful soul I feel completely comfortable to open up and say anything, and I find we have a lot in common.
A couple of errands and then a bit of pool time, and then Hayley was off with Daddy and Kyle and Tina and Carter for a weekend in Idaho.
And me? Got the weekend to myself, gonna get cracking on some long-overdue legal stuff and...yes... after being told "you need to" by a handful of people in the past 2 weeks, I plan to pull out the two legal pads that up till now have been the resting place of my novel, Lady with the Lamp, in undisturbed first-draft form. I finally feel like I'm at a place where I can pull it out, start typing it up, and in the process pull it apart (it's been nice and safe from my scrutiny in that drawer for a year and a half) and with any luck come up with a version that's just a little bit better.
Just started reading a book called "Mystic Nurse" by a gentleman named Pat Colwell - I'll be reviewing that one here on this very blog as soon as I finish it, at his request. Might I add that this is not by any means a "bought" review, and I intend to be very candid and honest. One thing I won't do is sell out.
I had a conversation with a friend last night, and reiterated my firm commitment to not sell myself short, not accept what I should find unacceptable, and to not sugar-coat anything, anymore. Assertiveness. I could learn a lot from certain people in my life, and I intend to. Mouse behind the door, be gone.
And nurse in the blue scrub dress, be gone too. Or you'll be late for work.
