The book is the perfect size and length for kids and the images are appealing. They main “character” is a little girl who is exploring her backyard. The images appear to have been actual photographs that were modified to have a watercolor effect. It is attractive and adds a sense of whimsy that is essential for helping kids explore and expand their imaginations, and keep them interested. The short activities on each page are fun and interesting while being educational - the perfect combination. The back of the book contains “nature notes” and “tips for discovery” to help you help your child learn about nature.

P2 is my animal-loving creative sprite and I am sure she will enjoy this book. She is learning to read and will enjoy practicing her skills as she learns with this book. The language is simple enough for little ones while being and interesting and engaging for older kids like her but each page directs the reader to pay closer attention to the beauty of the world around them. I cannot think of a better gift for my child!
