It’s a beautiful day today! It rained last night so the air is crisp and clean….the San Joaquin Valley is not noted for its clean air…..move out of the city, get into the country my dad once said as he stressed over his grand kids breathing the smog of the Bay Area. Well, here in the rural San Joaquin Valley, the air is worse actually. I am sure it has to do with the geography…a valley between two mountain ranges as well as lots of folks here commute which increases the smog and (what folks try to fix most of the blame on) it is an agriculture region with lots of chemical pesticide use along with methane gas production (cow farts is essentially what it is here).
Whatever the reason, we don’t see the sky as blue as it is today all the time so I am enjoying it. The sun is shining, the temperature is mild and the wind is not too gusty so it is a nearly perfect spring day. I’ll take it.
The day was spent taking care of business. Daniel’s biannual evaluation with VMRC was done this morning. VMRC coordinates any services he might qualify for so twice a year they come to the house to check out the little man.
Next came my visit to the blood bank. I give regularly and am a month late as I was scheduled on my birthday. Family sickies kept me away but at least I got in today. Jodie accompanied me and although she didn’t care for watching me get poked or the bag fill with my blood, she did enjoy the juice and cookies they provided her. Then it was off to Pak and Save for the weekly stocking of the pantry. Jodie made up the shopping list and actually did a good job. She also helped find the best buys. She loves to compare until pricing and finding items we have coupons for. My little bargain shopper helped me get a total of $80 in savings which is great ( I usually manage around $50-$80 with coupons, club card and all that).
Not sure what is for dinner tonight but I know what is for dessert….the strawberries looked great and the price was right so i picked up a flat along with white chocolate and dark chocolate so we can dip strawberries….YUM!I just noticed that John Scalzi added me for the second week in a row to featured journals’ weekend assignment entriesAOL People Connection: Journals. Too kewl! Thanks!
My vote for the best has to beHung Out to DryI laughed so hard over the visual. Do check it out if you hadn’t already.
