one last thought on Prop 8 passing

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

This is my opinion of the passing of Proposition 8 in California and I might add also the passing of the ballot measure in Arkansas that prohibits unmarried couples (gay or straight) from foster-adopting.

It seems that I am not alone in my opinion either:

I’m tired of it. I’m tired of being the focus of so much ill-will. All I’ve ever wanted to do is love, live and an active member of my community. But most of all — I wanted fair and equal treatment under the law of my state for myself and my partner of nearly 8 years.

So, I awoke this morning to learn that my relationship with my partner is no longer valid. It’s no longer legal. It’s somehow sub-par, not equivalent, not worthy of protection. And you know what? I’m pissed and tired of holding it in.

We welcome supporters of gay rights to snap your own photo showing your wedding ring on your middle finger. Spread the word that this fight isn’t over. Whether you’re gay, straight, bi, white, blue or tan — show your support by letting freedom ring on your blog! Please forward this page to any friends and family who may find it of interest.

You can see how others feel about this over at Diary of a Modern Matriarch and, if you agree, you can link your own picture here as well.
