Outbreak

Posted Jan 27 2009 7:00pm

It’s beginning to sound like a friggin’ TB ward under the Big Top and this member of the circus act is responsible for it!

The irony is, this girl RARELY has ever gotten sick. She has had two surgeries but she just doesn’t seem to succumb to the yuck and muck that her peers, during her lifetime, seem to contract and share by sliming one another in that special way that kids of all ages do. The rare occasions that she has gotten sick, she is usually only down for a day.

Last week she was very sick with fever, aches and pains, chills, malaise and a very bad headache. I was thinking perhaps the onset of the flu or something. But the very next day, she was back to her usual, goofy, bouncy self.

Of course Daniel got sick, very sick. Today’s update is he is starting to bounce back. He has the pinched, sick kid look and is still wheezy but today he is smiling and being silly…and then he is exhausted so he is not 100%. Give him time. I’m just happy to see him eating again like a little Budweiser Clydesdale. pretty soon he will be pulling that wagon…yes, JJ, I saw that commerical today and got all misty.

But just as Daniel is beginning to recover, Jodie became the next victim to the Zoë virus. She stayed home from school with a horrible cough, difficulty breathing and sleeping unless sitting up, fever, aches and overall feeling miserable. Then tonight I noticed Abby was coughing a rattly kind of cough as well.

Great! How long will we pass this thing around I wonder.

Zoë reports that all of her friends who spent the weekend with her prior to her sick day are also now sick, very sick….more victims of the Zoë virus.

I talked to the kids’ pedi today, while at work to get a ‘script for some relief for Jodie and he tells me his office has been packed since late last week with patients with the same symptoms.

It’s spreading like wild fire here in Manteca and it all started with Zoë, the carrier for the Zoë virus.
