The Parentville Fave Five

With all of our busy schedules, the last thing you want to try and do is fit more in at night. Good news: if you haven't read this before, experts say baths are not necessary every single day, as it can dry out your baby's skin (and the soap can irritate sensitive areas if she's sitting in it for awhile). However, it's a balance in the Summer with kids playing outside more. So I've been giving my daughter an extra rinse-off on these days.

Even with something as simple as a bath, there is so much gear on the market. Besides my previous post with the Summer Infant Bath Sling, here are my top five:

Boon Water Deflector/Protective Faucet Cover

This deflects water so your baby can wash herself in the water stream, it protects her from hitting her head, and it allows for a hole to mix bubble bath with the water. Note this will only work with a normal-width faucet, at least 1 1/2" - 2" thick.

Aquababy Bath Ring

This is a terrfic seat that suctions to your tub for when baby starts sitting up. Plus, it's easier for you to bathe him and he can more easily play with toys.

K¸ster Bath Toy Store

Typically, bath toy holders suction on the tub wall and fall off when weighted down by too many toys. This one's a good option if you have lots of toys and room to spare (it's 7 x 5 x 13"). It's essentially a bucket with a removeable insert that has holes in it to drain the water.

Tub Time Bumper

Along with a suctioned tub mat, this is a good idea when your baby's big enough, as it helps to avoid injuries from slipping. Note that you need to measure your tub circumference - this tends to fit bigger tubs since it's 11 feet long. Otherwise, it won't suction properly to the sides.

ALEX Jr. Tub Toys

Can't forget about the toys! ALEX offers the best variety and creativity in the bath. Their Quacky Cups are great for learning colors, stacking and cause-and-effect. There are holes in the bottom of each, and it comes with a phthalate-free quirting duck! Tootin' Tubmates teach colors and dexterity, as baby can sit each animal in its raft and then link them together. If he dunks one very slowly, he'll also hear it whistle.
