My cat has a bruised spine (per vet)

My cat was in the Cat ER.  After x-rays, etc. and an overnight stay, I was told she had a bruised spine, they sent her home.  She still cannot walk properly, she still drags her hind legs.  I was given Prednison in pill form.  I tried to give her one, but no luck.  What is the best way to give her a pill without hurting her more than she is?  Thanks.
