Nail is the most sensitve area ther pad of the toe and paw pad can be touched and squuezzed with some intensity before he pulls away the nail feels split but i cant touch it for too long it is that sensitive??

Split nail can be caused usually by trauma. In this case it is painfull, so your dog feels discomfort. Usually it heals by itself, but if become swollen visit your vet. You can try to cut the split part.
If it doesn’t heals in one week visit your vet.
