what should I put on my dogs ear

My dog looks like a fly or flea bit him - he scratched his ear (enough to make it bleed and scab up) I put on his cone to prevent him from bleeding/scratching his ear. I checked him for fleas but I cant see any.  He has very short hair so it easy to see if he has fleas
