Am i pregnant? What is Implantation bleeding?

I had a normal period june 7th,2009 i had sex june 25th-27th, my mext period was due july 7th. On july 6th i started spotting a pinkish fluid which lasted through the 15th of july. It was pink in colr then red, then pink towards the end but it was not normal an consistant. i saw a GYN and he mentioned implanttaion bleeding and gave me a blood test, i did not get the results yet but i am confused as to what implantation bleeding is, could i really be pregnant?
