Liana was supposed to have her measurements taken for her helmet fitting. We got as far as measuring her head circumference, which they'd like to see at 41cm .... and hers was 40.9cm! Oh well ... we have to go back for physical therapy in 2 weeks anyways, and we'll try again then. The tech just thought that if we wait for her head to just get a little bigger, the cranial cap (aka helmet) will fit her that much better.
Liana also had her Physical Thearpy evaluation at the same clinic (Gilette Children's) and it went very well. She tolerated the stretches and exercises reasonably well ... and we came home with a whole booklet full of exercises to do to work on her torticollis, which is the shorting of the muscles on the side of her neck, very common in kids with plagiocephaly (misshapen heads), since they tend to favor the side where the head is more flat. The only depressing part was that Liana only scored in the 5th percentile for her ADJUSTED age. I knew she was nowhere close to her actual age, but that fact that most kids her adjusted age are a lot farther along in their physical development was kind of depressing. We've been diligent about tummy time and working on her gross motor skills in general, especially since my dad was here, and I'd like to think that she will just catch up in her own time. But of course, I still worry.
On a positive note, Liana and I had a lot of fun going on an outing by ourselves. Can I just state the obvious by saying that taking ONE baby anywhere is sooooo much easier than handling two at a time? Even though I had to get Liana up early so we could get to our appointment on time, she was a quiet and alert peanut the entire time, looking out the window on the car ride there ... and finally taking a little snooze on the way back.
