Everything about pregnancy is so confusing....wow! K so here is my question for now..

My girlfriend missed her period and is about 4 days late now (her period usually starts around the 3rd) .... We both thought she was pregnant, but than she said she thinks she stared to ovulate. I wanted to be sure so I went and bought a pregnancy test, she took it, and it said she was NOT pregnant. Im not sure how accurate this is, because I have read something that says the test results can be wrong if you take it when you are ovulating, but I also know you don't usually ovulate when you are pregnant. So the test could have been wrong because she was ovulating, but if she was that means she isnt pregnant..so either way she isnt pregnant....right? Sorry if this is way confusing.
