you start a fresh cycle when you start to bleed. It doesn't matter if you were late in starting and you don't count from when you expected your bleed to start but from the first day of full red flow.
By this point the tests are accurate. Since you said your last cycle went longer then I would look toward delayed ovulation (or no ovulation) as a reason.

I have take 3 prenauncy test and each has turned out negative. I waited until the probable time that HCG would start so i could get an accurate reading with each test. I am wondering since i got my period late in the last cycle, will it affect my new cycle and should i not expect to get my period during my normal cycle or did i change to a completely new cycle
