NUCHAL TRANSLUCENCY OF 4.2MM. IS IT SERIOUS?

Posted by anu_n_baby

Dear All,

I will be completing 14 weeks on 30/09/2009. My DOB is 12/09/1981. I had done the sonography on 23/09/2009. The results were not that encouraging. It was found that the NT = 4.2mm. The femur length was 4 mm (Instead of 7mm). After seeing the sonographic reports & images my doctor suggested to do an DOUBLE MARKER BLOOD TEST.

I did DOUBLE MARKER BLOOD TEST on same day (23/09/2009) & got the reports on 24/09/2009. The reports were normal showing the LOW RISK (TRISOMY 21 - 1:396, TRISOMY 18 - <1:10000). I again met my doctor with this blood report. The doctor advised again a sonography to be done but at diffrent place.

I got the reports of second sonography on same day 24/09/2009, but surprisingly the results varied a lot. In second report od sonography (which was done only with a gap of less than 24 hrs) the NT was found to be 1.6mm, hands, limbs & legs were normal.

I again got back to my doctor with both the sonography results (one that was abnormal & the other that was normal) & blood reports.

Now in order to make sure & assure ourselves the doctor has suggested a AMNIOTIC FLUID TEST to be done after completion of 15 weeks. She says that it will give us 100% confirmatory result.

Me & my husband are highly tensed. We would like to have this baby.

Can anyone share their experience if they have passed through such rough situation/s? What are the chances of having a HEALTHY & NORMAL baby by us?

Looking forward for your reply..................:-(
